How Protectosil ANTIGRAFFITI works

Durable, attractive, breathable – natural surfaces combine all of these attributes. Nature is the role model for Protectosil ANTIGRAFFITI®. Until now no antigraffiti product could combine all the requirements for perfect long-term protection on the one hand and unhindered water vapor permeability on the other. In addition the product shouldn’t adversely alter the appearance of the facade and should be solvent-free.

Impossible? No longer.

High-tech silicon-based Protectosil ANTIGRAFFITI® has succeeded in combining all these properties into new and unique nanotechnology surface treatment.

Recently also a semi-permanent system called Protectosil ANTIGRAFFITI® SP has been developed. Protectosil ANTIGRAFFITI® SP is very flexible in application and has a good weathering stability.

Graffiti control systems compared: durability

Sacrificial systems must be reapplied after every cleaning step and even if not cleaned they loose their effectiveness after just one or two years. Protectosil ANTIGRAFFITI® is permanent and lasts much longer. Once applied, it provides durable protection even after more than 5 cleaning cycles and 2 years or more of weathering. Protectosil ANTIGRAFFITI® SP withstands about 3-5 cleaning cycles.

Protectosil® ANTIGRAFFITI® and Protectosil® ANTIGRAFFITI® SP are unique penetrating treatments that protect a structure’s surface while still allowing free movement of water vapor. Polymer-based non-sacrificial graffiti control systems are similar to unpigmented coatings that „seal“ the surface like a plastic covering, trapping water vapor inside. This trapped water vapor may eventually cause discoloration of or serious damage to the structure.

Protectosil ANTIGRAFFITI® and Protectosil® ANTIGRAFFITI® SP permit water vapor to move freely, preventing the damage and repair costs associated with trapped moisture.
