Can contact with water impair the efficacy of Protectosil ANTIGRAFFITI®?

Protectosil ANTIGRAFFITI® does not react with water, therefore its efficacy is not affected by small amounts of moisture (for example atmospheric humidity). Only contact with the building material and drying result in chemical bonding with the surface.

Can I use Protectosil ANTIGRAFFITI® in addition to a water repellent?

Yes. If long-lasting protection from rain and weather is required in addition to graffiti control we recommend a penetrating treatment with one of our water repellents, for example Protectosil® BHN, before application of Protectosil ANTIGRAFFITI®.

Does Protectosil ANTIGRAFFITI® contain solvents?

No. Protectosil ANTIGRAFFITI® is water-based and free from solvents and volatile organic components (VOC).

How can I remove graffiti from a surface that has been treated with Protectosil ANTIGRAFFITI®?

A surface treated with Protectosil ANTIGRAFFITI® may be easily cleaned with most commercial graffiti removers (follow the manufacturer‘s instructions) and a pressure washer. The protective coating remains undamaged even after repeated cleaning cycles.

How do I apply Protectosil ANTIGRAFFITI® so that the protection is permanent?

Depending on the type of substrate, at least two applications of the "ready to use" Protectosil ANTIGRAFFITI® are required to achieve permanent protection. The surface must be allowed to dry to the touch between applications. This is dependent upon weather conditions but in general 10 - 60 minutes drying time is sufficient. More information is contained in the Technical Information on applying Protectosil ANTIGRAFFITI® (download from Literature page).

How long must I protect a surface, freshly treated with Protectosil ANTIGRAFFITI® from taggers?

If Protectosil ANTIGRAFFITI® is correctly applied, the surface should be resistant to most spray paints after several hours. Full performance against permanent felt-tip markers can take up to a few days on certain sensitive substrates.

What is HVLP technology and where is it available?

HVLP stands for High Volume Low Pressure and is widely used in the painting industry. The advantage of HVLP over other spray methods (for example airless) is significantly less overspray. Protectosil ANTIGRAFFITI® is a low viscosity liquid that is best applied using HVLP equipment. HVLP equipment is used by larger professional painting firms and is also available in specialty painting supply stores. More information you will find here

Which substrates are suitable for Protectosil ANTIGRAFFITI®?

Protectosil ANTIGRAFFITI® may be used on absorbent building materials such as concrete, brick, clinker, sand limestone, and natural stone such as granite and marble. Non-absorbent surfaces like glass, metal, painted areas and plastic cannot be treated.

How do I clean equipment that has been used to apply Protectosil ANTIGRAFFITI®?
