Mass hydrophobation - efficient and cost-saving

The absorption of water by capillary suction of concrete is known to be suppressed by standard hydrophobation. In the past, monomeric alkylalkoxysilanes have proven to be particularly effective in achieving this effect. Unfortunately, this standard hydrophobation represents an additional step in the construction of concrete surfaces. This is sometimes not possible due to scheduling, curing of the concrete, or other job site restrictions. A silane emulsion that offers the benefits of reduced water uptake without an additional step in the construction is Protectosil^® MH 50. This water repellent agent is directly added to the uncured concrete mixture. Protectosil^® 851 and Protectosil^® DRY CIT are powdered admixtures for water repellency and corrosion protection respectively.  A homogeneous distribution of the active ingredient is obtained since these formulations are easily dispered in water.
