Independent tests prove that Protectosil® BHN reduces thermal conductivity

Energy conservation that saves money and reduces CO2 emissions is as much an issue in the construction industry as it is elsewhere.

Even before the new Energy Saving Ordinance (EnEV) was introduced in Germany, the goal has increasingly been to come up with solutions that are capable of diminishing the thermal conductivity of building materials and thus making a positive impact on energy efficiency in buildings. Hydrophobizing impregnation with Protectosil® BHN can make such a contribution, because the degree of thermal conductivity of a building material is also contingent on how much moisture it contains.

Independent testing has shown that Protectosil® BHN treatment alone can reduce the thermal conductivity of concrete or Poroton solid bricks by up to 7 percent. Protectosil® therefore significantly helps to scale down the amount of heat dissipated from a building. This is an extremely interesting prospect both for the manufacturers of building materials and for building clients, as it offers a way of further increasing the energy efficiency of buildings.
